Sunday Night Blues...

This is one thing that I truly didn't miss when writing full-time, the Sunday Night Blues. That knot in your stomach that starts at about 4 pm and continues to grow as the night wears on. You think that you shouldn't waste the last few hours of your weekend, then you spend the next few hours trying to figure out what you should do and end up doing nothing at all. Then it's time to climb into bed and you spend the next hour thinking of all the BS you'll have to deal with the next day... the next five days. By then the knot in your stomach is the size of a basketball and by Monday morning you have barely slept.

Your alarm goes off and you find yourself doing that "can I call in sick" debate. When did I call in last? What do I have to do and will it wait a day? What if I go in today and call in tomorrow? Because you know there is no way in hell you're going to make it through five whole days until the next time you can sleep in. You finally decide that you need to go in, so you stand in the shower for a while, then race to get dressed and head out the door to get to work, still tired, and you struggle through your day slamming back as much caffeine that you can get your hands.

For eight months I was able to get away from the Sunday Night Blues. Eight months it didn't matter what day of the week it was except for Wednesday to get comics... now it's back to the blues. I swear once you get the taste of true freedom... you can't really go back.

Now I'm going to go off to bed, I have a basketball sized knot in my stomach and I have to plan out my morning debate and caffeine run.

It's Thanksgiving and because of travel, work, etc... my family has already done its big meal and I have today to play catch up on projects and play on the internet. Which means posting stuff like crazy. So just a run down of the latest:

1) Private Skin, my photography book, is now available for order from Amazon, Bud Plant and a lot of other book selling sites. I'm truly fascinated by this... I have no concept of the photography book industry and any feedback or information I can get will help me decide if a second book is in order and if I should go for a theme, etc.

2) Event Horizon from Mam Tor came out this week and I am very pleased with a slight reservation. The pages look amazing. Szymon did an awesome job and I look forward to seeing the next part come to life for book 3. The one down side is the letterer made some very odd choices on placement and breaking sentences apart. I think if this continues as planned, I will have to reletter the whole thing when I collect all the parts into a single trade... but that will be FAR down the line if it happens.

3) 30 Days of Night: Dead Space is moving on to issue 2 solicitaiton and book 1 will be in stores in January. This is my first multi-part series to see print and I'll probably watch the Diamond shipping numbers like a hawk.

4) There hasn't been an official announcement yet, but I have found a home for OGN that I wrote a few years back called I AM SPARTACUS. The art is being done by Ilkka Lesonen and it is visually one of the most unique books I have ever seen. The publisher took a look at the first few pages and decided on the spot to publish it. This will probably be in the February Previews for April release.

5) Still waiting for the release dates for my children's book and novella. One will see print while the other is going to be distributed electronically... more details one available.

6) I recently joined both My Space (danwickline) and Suicide Girls (Dan_Wickline) in an attempt to increase my web presence. Not really sure how either of these sites work but I'm playing with them to find out. I think on the SG site I will promote my photography more than my writing, but we'll see.

7) Still waiting for the green light on a licensed property I was asked to pitch for. The pitch was accepted, it's just sitting with the legal department... blah blah blah. My editor is pushing to get things started and I thank him for that. I'm also working up a pitch for one of the big two with a somewhat well known artist. Going after a character I loved when I was a kid.

That's pretty much the update as of now. Going to get over and see Harry Potter this weekend and I'm pulling for my Panthers to beat Buffalo on Sunday. Other than that, I'm hoping for a quiet and productive weekend. I hope everyone has the same.

Well, I went to Dallas, had a great time at the con... came back with a bad cold and my PC crashed. Thanks to the guys at Geek Squad, it's back up and running with nothing lost... but I was without it for 7 days which was far more traumatic than it should have been.

I did a write up of the Dallas trip with pictures for Jonah Weiland over at CBR, you can see it here: https://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=6187

I'll write more this weekend. Need sleep.
