SHELTER ME

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine. Imagine waking up in a bomb shelter and being told that the world has ended and the only other person alive is someone you barely know. THE CONVERSATION

"The dialogue's pretty good, the art's attractive, the price is reasonable. I liked it." - Steven Grant: Permanent Damage

"I enjoyed spending an hour (their time) with these characters. " - Johanna Draper Carlson: Comics Worth Reading

"Wickline has a sense of comic timing and a way with words that compares well to a good sitcom. " - Randy Lander: The Fourth Rail

"Dan Wickline's dialogue flows from his characters with a charm and realism that is instantly engaging. " - Immelda Alty: Broken Frontier

The experimental nature of The Conversation one-shot comes from its composition process developed by writer Dan Wickline (Metal Hurlant, Digital Webbing Presents) with his artist, David Hedgecock (Universalis, Kameelman). Billed as a 48-page prestige format "a Cut and Paste comic", the art elements for The Conversation were drawn only once by Hedgecock and given to Wickline to assemble at his discretion. Therefore, as Wickline furthered his script about two old friends meeting for what turns out to be a much more than ordinary discussion, he could utilize digital manipulation to "build" each panel along the way, granting him as a writer unparalleled freedom.

BLOODLUST

"A good read... a lot more interesting visually than Humberto Ramos' Crimson" - Demonboy: Demonboy's Pit

"Bloodlust is FANTASTIC; It's an original mixture of seriousness and humor that is absolutely exciting to read." - Sidra Roberts: Collector Times Online

A series of brutal and horrific murders have been taking place in Texas. The victims are drained of their blood through a puncture wound in their neck. The locations of the murders closely follow the tour schedule of the band Bloodlust and the police have narrowed their suspect list to one name… the band's lead singer and self-proclaimed vampire Cooper Young.

They say the best way to hide is in plain sight; well if you're a vampire the best way may be to hide in a spotlight. Michael Deacon, Cooper's mentor, has gone to great lengths to hide Cooper's existence from the Vampiric Order, but the attention drawn by the murders puts everything at risk. To make matters worse, the murders also bring Cooper to the notice of the U.S. government's Project CROSS (Covert Research of Supernatural Species) and Silver-Dawn - a group of mercenaries hired to hunt and kill all creatures of the arcane. And the band's new drummer turns out to be a werewolf. Cooper is the wild card in a giant chess game, the ultimate power struggle between two elder vampires that will decide the fate of the human race.

A 5 page excerpt from Bloodlust #3 was printed in Digital Webbing Presents #2. It showed Deacon's trip to a local bar to meet an old friend and to make some new ones. This story gives hints that there is a lot more to Deacon and his connection to Banding then we got to see in the first two issues.

LAPSE

"My personal favorite story of this book, as it involves the fairly clever use of time-travel. A very solid use of its eight pages, and an imaginative spin on what on the surface looked to be a lame power." - Jason Cornwell: Silverbulletcomics.com

"It's a modern science fiction piece, tightly wound and with confident art." - Chris Allen: Comicbookgalaxy.com

"This story is the best of the book. The incident is well chosen for this story length. The pages are clear and easy to read. The idea is intriguing and the conclusion surprising." - Johanna Draper Carlson: Comicsworthreading.com

"A clever spin on a character who can travel into the future, an increasing rarity in time-travel stories." - Jim Johnson: The Comic Buyer's Guide

Connie is sitting in the local bar when a quiet, almost nerdy looking man comes in and takes the stool next to her. He introduces himself as Mike, buys her a drink and strikes up a conversation. They talk about their work, she's an accountant he's an assassin. To sway her disbelief he tells her about his latest hit, the President of the United States. It seems Mike has the ability to open a portal to the future, but the portal has limitations: it only opens to exactly twelve hours into the future and it's a one-way portal. He can't go through and come back, so no lottery numbers. He then tells her how he used the power to go after the President.
